Fourier Analysis is a mathematical tool which can do a number of things: separate out signals from noise; help identify patterns or trends in data; filter out all unwanted data and focus on a single signal; use approximations to make generalizations; make approximations of real world signals (think electronic music); combine harmonics to get a stronger signal. That's what I'll be trying to do here!! Won't you join me with your comments?

The Beginning

To: Jenn in Holland

Subject: You do of course realise this is all your fault...

There I was, blissfully unaware of the blogsphere, content with my belief that it was all frustrated journalists who couldn't get their stuff in print and vitriolic opinionmongers fighting against as well as for the system. I thought it was all politics and/or fluff. I thought it was product testimonials and election campaign diatribes. And then Jackie told me I should look at your blog ( I guess you could share some of the blame with her). And from your hilarious and poignant insights I was also led to a world of articulate, hilarious, philosophical and brilliant writers. And in myself there was this awakening of a long-buried need to reach out, to communicate, to stimulate my own thoughts as well as those of others. Rather than continuing to burden your blog with my long comments, I realized I have to do this myself. It will take me a while to get up to speed, but I share with you my first efforts at a template. It is a work in progress and I will be bugging you with questions as I get up to speed on all the various options and functions. It is not something I share with anyone else, but since you are at fault in many respects for letting this genie out of the bottle, I give you : signalsminusnoise.blogspot.com .

Be gentle, it is my first time....
